Re : Backupdata.bat fails

What is the function of the backupdata.bat batch file? Does it backup a copy of the application and or the data. From what I have read the batch file backs up the application in case the the upgrade fails. Correct?

Prem,

Then why did you ask me to do the "create" stuff with the database? The problem is backing up the application before the upgrade. Also I am new to the way an upgrade is performed. And we do a separate backup of the database nightly.

Hi Prem,

I ran the above query and it didn't return any results.

I ran it across two difference users.  I used 'first name surename', 'first name', 'surname' and username.

No combination returned any results for any user

Prem,

 I believe you are creating and external backup (MS SQL backup), is it correct? NO.
We have  a backup of the SQL database. I need to back up the application before the upgrade which is your procedure. The backupdata.bat does that correct?

These are the instruction from the website:

Once you have upgraded to the latest version of SDP, follow the below steps.

Step 1:  Stop ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus service.
Step 2:  Take a backup of the existing build for security reasons.
From the command prompt, move to [ServiceDesk Plus-Home]\bin directory and execute backUpData.bat.  This will start the backup process.
cmd>[ServiceDesk Plus Home]\bin
cmd>backUpData.bat

where, ServiceDesk Plus Home -> C:\ManageEngine\ServiceDesk

Good afternoon . I implemented the SDP + in my organization to evaluate the system. After importing the user accounts from AD to the SDP +, I configured authentication via Active Directory with SSO, but when a user who is logged into AD on your workstation accesses the SDP website +, authentication by SSO does not work and appear the fields username and password to login. I'm attaching the serverout0.txt compressed file for analysis and possible help.

Hi,

1.Edit the file "rebrandinfo.xml " which can be found in below folder

         <SDPHome>/server/default/conf/

2. Add the entry '<ADSELFSERVICE name="ADSelfService Plus"/>' before  </REBRAND_DATA> attribute

Example:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<REBRAND_DATA>
<PRODUCT name="CCSD ServiceDesk"/>
<OPMANAGER name="OpManager"/>
<ADMANAGER name="ADManager"/>
</REBRAND_DATA>

After adding the parameter, it should be

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!-- $Id$ -->
<REBRAND_DATA>
<PRODUCT name="ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus"/>
<OPMANAGER name="OpManager"/>
<ADMANAGER name="ADManager Plus"/>
<ADSELFSERVICE name="ADSelfService Plus"/>
</REBRAND_DATA>

3.Restart the application and check the issue.
4.If the issue still persists, please generate support file and send it to us.

Thanks,
Rajeshkumar.R.

Ray,

" I believe you are creating and external backup (MS SQL backup), is it correct? NO.
We have  a backup of the SQL database"

            - I referred SQL backup as an external backup. An SQL backup is not sufficient and that is why we recommend you to create an application backup by executing 'backupdata.bat'.

      backupdata.bat fails due to an issue with DB table, the queries which I gave you will fix the issue.

      After executing the queries you can create an application backup by executing backupdata.bat without any issues.

      Once the backup completes, you can proceed with upgrading the application.

Please let send your contact details to support@servicedeskplus.com if you would like to clarify the procedure on a phone call. We will be glad to provide you assistance.

New install on Cent 6.5

When I start run.sh I get

"Unclean shutdown of previous run. Failed to start the server. Please refer logs for more details"

I'm not able to find the logs. The log files I do see aren't being written to.

Re : Duplicate Assets (_old)

We are getting a similar problem. I looked over the document, but the only resolution offered was to:

uninstall the agent completely from the registry and deploy it through AD GPO.

The agent was originally deployed through AD GPO, so I'm not sure why that would fix it.

Even if I delete the bottom asset and rename the top one to the correct name, if I scan it then SD gives it the _old name and creates a new asset.

Why is this happening? We've been able to scan purchased assets before and I'd like to keep the purchase information tied to the asset.

Thanks!

Figured it out. There was a space in front of the service tag, causing the system to think the service tags were different

Agent Configuration

Hi,

We have deployed the asset agent to the computers with wrong information in the agent configuration. Now we replaced the ManageEngineAssetExplorerAgent.msi and only the new computers with the new agent are getting scanned at boot.

Can somebody please edit and send the AgentConfiguration.vbs to me based on our settings.
Please find the details below: If you require the AgentConfiguration.vbs, I can email it to you.

Thanks.

Hi Otter,

The path from where you have executed the updatemanager seems to be from the desktop, which I think needs to be checked. Also "UpdateManager.Ink" is not the correct command. Kindly browse to the bin(Manageengine\Servicedesk\bin) folder from command prompt and execute 'Updatemanager.bat'.

If you still face any issue in upgrading the application, kindly let us know for further assistance.
